Tax preparation school...Has anyone ever done this and worked as a seasonal tax preparer?

I saw information where you only pay for books and tuition is free. I was hopeing to make a little extra income this way, any thoughts to it?Tax preparation school...Has anyone ever done this and worked as a seasonal tax preparer?
I did it last year, while finishing school. It's not a bad thing, as long as the office owner is not an upstart (brand new) and/or does plenty of advertising. That's basically the only reason I won't be doing it again this year. (Once 2 years have passed, I can go work at another office, and I may.)

Generally, attending the school does not guarantee you a job, however. If you do not do well or do not understand the material well, you may not be hired. Just a heads-up.Tax preparation school...Has anyone ever done this and worked as a seasonal tax preparer?
I did this last year took the Jackson Hewitt tax course in Sept threw Dec. I signed a contract that if I got my license I would work for Jackson Hewitt only they waived my tuition costs I bought the books that was it. In my state you have to be licensed to be a tax preparer. which means you need to pass a very hard test and have so many hours of learning and class time, So not everyone who takes the class will get the job. I was luck I didn't pass (I didn't even take the test really) test, but my boss was opening new offices in California where it is much easier to get certified. They sent me down there to help train the guys who were interested in the job. and work as a senior tax preparer

I loved my job hated my boss. I had wanted to take the course again and try for my license again this year, but couldn't because of that contract I signed the year before. I have to work for Jackson Hewitt only and unfortunately he owns all of them in my area. I'd have to travel 80 miles to the closest one he doesn't own.
