How does this work? I'm confused.?

Let's say a girl misses her period for...say 3 months. Maybe because of stress, or not eating well, or she's young.

Now.

I know you get your period because of the egg travelling down the tube has been in your uterus for a certain amount of time and it's time for your body to flush out the tissues and the unused egg.

Hmm.

Well if she misses her period for 3 months, does that mean there is 3 eggs in her body when she gets her period? Does it mean there is 3 times the amount of tissues lining? How does this work? I'm confused.?
No your body just hasn't decided to release an egg yet. It's just off schedule. You get your period when an egg is released. No period? No egg.How does this work? I'm confused.?
Not neccissarily. But it's possible. Congrats! You are the potential mother of triplets! (Lets hope this doesn't happen at a young age ;))

Periods aren't supposed to become regular till about 21 years of age. Don't worry.
You get your period because your body realizes that it's not pregnant and it sheds the lining of your uterus. It's possible that there was just no ovulation during the 3 months that there was no period.

This is why when people are still on the birth control pill they have their periods. They still have a small buildup of the lining, but they don't ovulate, since the hormones they are taking mimic pregnancy.

It's possible that the lining might be thicker - I'm not sure on that. But I would think that it wouldn't necessarily be 3 times as much.
