I'm trying to work out how many people will fit in a certain space. Does anyone know how I can work this out?

I'm trying to organise an aerial photo of a certain number of people, and have a certain amount space to work with. I'm trying to work out how many people will fit into that space, standing very close together but I'm not sure how much space one person takes up. Does anyone know of a way to work this out?I'm trying to work out how many people will fit in a certain space. Does anyone know how I can work this out?
well, it will depend on the size';width'; of the people, as to how many will fit,,,, you could try taking the adverage width of the people you have, using that as a base, then factor in your width of the space, and also if the people are going to overlap or stand shoulder to shoulder to get your width,,,,, then you would have to figure you adverage ';depth '; of the people,

for example, if your people are 2 ft wide at their widest point, and you space is 10 ft wide, you can estimate you can fit 5 people across,, if you space is also 10 ft deep, and your people are 1foot deep at their widest depth, you can fit them in 10 deep,,you can fit 5wide x 10 deep ,,, so 50 people could go into a 10ft by 10 ft space, your variables would be the difference (how much each varies from your estimate) the larger your group/space the more your estimate would adverage out accurate,,,,,,,,, i would think the only way to know , is to literally do it, have the actual people in that space, or their actual mesuraments,,,, as i said, the other variable is if you overlap their shoulders,,,I'm trying to work out how many people will fit in a certain space. Does anyone know how I can work this out?
D'oh! Put dem in da space!
you can make the people stand in height order and place them in alternate positions
Height order can work. You can also put them in rows. Last row with the tallest ppl then the shortest would go in the front. You can also have some ppl kneeling in the front.

You know the typical school class photos you might have taken one day. Assume to take one like that.

Another tip, make the ppl's shoulder face one side. lets say they are ten ppl in a row. 5 of them face towards the right and the rest five on the other end of the line face the left. So that the shoulders would meet in the center.

See if this works. Hopefully you like my idea and pick me as your best answer :)))

goodluck.
a averadge person, if made in a block would be 500mm by 300mm (0.5meters by 0.3meters) so all you have to do is take a square of 500X300 an check how many times it goes int the certian space, if you can let me know how big the space is, then i can let you know exactly how many people you are gonna need.

for an exampel, say you want to fit people into a 20meter by 20meter space and a person is 0.5meter by 0.3meter you take 20x20=400meter and 0.5x0.3=0.15meter then you devide 0.15meter into 400meter 400/0.15= 2666.66666667 so that means you can fit 2666 people into a space of 20meter by 20meter. hope that solves your problem.... yours truly Pieter Pitout
You can designate 1 square foot per person and be fairly accurate. If you need this data in 3d, I would go with 6 cubic feet per person.
