If so, if you were to get pregnant whilst on the pill would you continue to have these ';fake'; periods?A friend told me that when you are on the pill, it works by giving you ';fake'; periods is this true?
No. It works by making your body think its pregnant for 3 or 4 weeks so your ovaries dont produce an egg.
That stops you getting pregnant.
Then you come off it for a week, you have a period as normal.
Then you start again.A friend told me that when you are on the pill, it works by giving you ';fake'; periods is this true?
It has been a long time since I was ever on birth control but if I remember correctly, birth control works in making your body think it is already pregnant. Like fooling your body, which is some reasons why women dont have periods while taking it or gain weight, etc.
It is a fake period. No egg is ovulated and very little endometrium grows (which is why your period on the pill is usually lighter). It is possible for the hormones to cause bleeding if you are pregnant, but heavy bleeding like a period if you are pregnant is never good.
It's different for all women, depending on the hormone variant in your body, but my mom got pregnant twice on the pill and still had regular bleeding during the time of her scheduled period.
No, it's not a 'fake period'. It's just a controlled period. You take the hormone for three weeks, which stops you from ovulating (it tricks your body into thinking it's pregnant).
Then on week 4, you take the placebo or sugar pills...some packs don't even contain this - you just skip taking any for that week. When you're on the placebo pills/not taking any, it triggers your period. And egg or not, it's a real period.
If you were to get pregnant on the pill, you would not get this period. However, some women do experience some bleeding when their period would normally occur during early pregnancy - this can happen whether you were on the pill or not.
what do you mean a fake period? Like an imaginary period? Its not real blood? Kidding.....you dont ovulate. you take 3 weeks of hormones to prevent you from ovulating then you take a week of sugar pills. they have no hormones. you bleed from that. its a real period.
Not every woman ovulates every month, but will still get a period....Im talking off the pill. Those are still real periods.
Yes you might, the hormone drop at the placebo part of the pack could cause bleeding. Often it doesn't though because you get natural hormones of pregnacy that compensate.
Huh?? You still get periods. There's a week of placebo ';fake'; pills you take while on your period. They don't do anythng except keep you on your pill-taking routine.
I don't know what they mean by a fake period but no - that's not true. If you took the pill continuously then you wouldn't have a period at all. In some countries that's how they are advised to take it, but not in the UK i understand.
